DeviantArt was founded in August 2000 principally by Angelo Sotira, Scott Jarkoff, Matthew Stephens. It is an online community for artwork, photography, and videography. It was acquired by Wix.com in February 2017 for USD 36 million. DeviantArt is an avenue for artists, photographers, graphic designers, and content creators promote, share, and sell their artwork online. Site visitors can browse all the shared art pieces on the site and buy whatever suits their fancy. Artwork that are posted on the site include photographs, digital art, traditional art, literature, film, skins for apps, OS customization utilities, etc. Tutorials, stock photos, and other downloadable resources are also available.

Behance is an online platform owned by Adobe Where people can showcase creative artwork. The site curates different digital content with a particular theme and process. Content creators can track the views and likes of each digital content. Unlike other online art platforms, hardcore pornography (genitals are censored) and grotesque images are allowed to be posted. Since young children can register to the site, filters can be put in place to prevent them from browsing such content. Tutorials on creating artworks are also available and free on the site. Pixiv has over 20 million members, with over 43 million digital content, and over 3.7 billion page visits every month. The site is available in English, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. Membership is free and required to gain access to the site and its contents.  

 

ArtStation 

Leonard Teo founded ArtStation in 2004. This is an online art community for artists, by artists. Artists can create their portfolio and link it to their website. ArtStation gives them an additional platform to promote themselves and their works online. They can sell their works through the site as well. The site’s analytics give artists feedback and insight on hits and views. There are also online competitions to help artists improve their craft and get better. Tutorials are also given by industry masters for continuous improvement and development. ArtStation is also for recruiters or any business that requires digital content. They can hire artist members for any job posting on the site. Signup is free but a premium membership at USD 10 per month is also available. 

 

Dribbble 

Dan Cederholm and Rich Thornett started Dribbble in 2009. This online art community is for artists to share their art, be it graphic design, web design, illustration, photography, etc. Each artist can put up their digital content on the site and visitors can like, comment, or save the artwork. Companies and businesses can post jobs on the site and members can apply for any of the posted jobs. There are also blogs and podcasts available that give advice, share information and tips on the site. Dribbble and its members also organize meetups to allow some facetime among members, a great networking activity for any artist. Signup is free but you should be invited by one of the existing members. Premium membership is also available for USD 12 a month.
